INTRODUCTION |
|
The mystery of "life" and "consciousness" has always fascinated philosophers, scientists and theologians. Having a sense of "consciousness" makes all the difference. The tiny insect can observe the moon. . . the moon sees nothing. It's not the vast cosmos that observes us, but rather we who observe the cosmos. As best summarized by the noted philosopher Descartes, "I think, therefore I am." We know we exist! The billions on galaxies see and know nothing.... That is the difference. Our own personal existence itself defies all odds. A single variation in the vast chain of events preceding our birth and we would have never emerged to claim our fragile inheritance. Yet, for all this, we are like a vapor that appears for a moment in time, and is suddenly gone. In this short interlude we engage in the quest for knowledge and understanding. We grapple with the questions of existence. Is everything a product of chance? Or does human existence have a broader dimension? Located on a small planet in a vast cosmos, we are tempted to think that the earth and humanity is insignificant. A product of random cosmic events. However, our planet also seems unique. Like a blue emerald jewel, it seems different. There are at least 25 essential attributes about the earth that must coexist for life as we know it to exist. If any one of these criteria were absent, or even slightly altered, earth would be a very different place. An awareness of the unique nature of our planet, is accompanied by an awareness of the unique nature of human beings. The human mind, together with the human hand, is the most suffocated instrument yet known to creation. Human beings have one further attribute that makes us unique and sets us apart. We yearn for meaning and purpose. Of all creatures we alone have a spiritual and religious instinct or consciousness. No other creature is know to built an alter or pray and worship. This spiritual sensitivity is observed in every race, and in every tribe and nation. For all this, the vast majority will live and die in uncertainty. Preoccupied with the pressures and demands of daily life, or confused by competing beliefs and alternative truth claims. Others will falsely feel secure in 'blind faith' or cultural religions, or even unbelief itself, believing that there are no ultimate answers, or that truth is relative. Addressing these issues is the primary purpose of this site. - John Heininger, Director, Facts of Faith |

OVERVIEW |
|
| What is the truth? Can we really know? Is anyone right? If so, to what extent? This internet site provides the visitor with tools that are used universally to evaluate and test any belief system, old or new, secular or sacred. The TRUTH EVALUATION TOOL PANEL enables you to test and scrutinize beliefs in light of the "facts". You can evaluate alternative beliefs, and determine the PROBABILITY of "truth" for each belief system. You can be the judge! | |
| TRUTH EVALUATION TOOL PANEL | Using the EVALUATION TOOL-PANEL, you can determine how the various belief claims stack up when the pressure is really applied. Each belief system is evaluated from a philosophical, historical, scientific and livabilityperspective. These criteria are widely used by authorities to asses the validity of any belief system. Press the Evaluation tool panel button for a fuller explanation of how it can be used. |
| PROBABILITY | Based on the above criteria, each belief system is afforded a TRUTH PROBABILITY FACTOR, from 1 to 100 per cent. This is based on how well a particular belief system stacks up when subjected to the various test criteria. Press the PROBABILITY FACTOR button on the home page for a fuller explanation. |
